Math WorkshopWe are learning how to add and subtract numbers to 10. I challenged some of the students to try to add and subtract to 20.
Reader's WorkshopELAGSEKRL9: With prompting and support, compare and contrast the adventures and experiences of characters in familiar stories.
We are currently working on comparing and contrasting familiar stories. The stories we are discussing are... Little Red Riding Hood and Ninja Red Riding Hood Goldilocks and the Three Bears and Goldi "ROCKS' and the Tree Bears Three Billy Goats Gruff and Three Billy Goats Fluff We use an anchor chart to show the similarities and differences of the stories and discuss how the experiences and adventures of the characters are the same and different. |
Writer's WorkshopELAGSEKW1: Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to compose opinion pieces in which they tell a reader the topic or the name of the book they are “writing” about and state an opinion or preference about the topic or book (e.g., My favorite book is...).
We are doing so well with our writing! The students love to use the Arts Integration strategy of Write-in Role. This strategy allows the students to step into the role of the character and write from their perspective in the story. There is a twist. The students must write their opinion of the character while in role based on the events in the story. We are using the stories from Reader's workshop as mentor text. |
